Quantum of Solace

Many of my friends told me “I just saw the new James Bond movie and your country is shown there”. Or “Is it really Bolivia in the James Bond movie?”
Well let me tell you that in the movie, they show an airport, a hotel, a desert, a taxi driver and peasants as if they were from Bolivia. Besides, the places they show and they say it’s my country are ugly, except for the Hotel.
What’s more, the story about my country shown in the movie is not the best one.

Well, the truth is that the only thing from Bolivia is the Police uniform.
I really don’t understand why they (movie producers) tell that it is Bolivia if it is not, and how come we (Bolivians) accept this. After watching the movie, first of all I was disappointed because I was expecting to see something from my country and second of all I was really angry because they made the world have a bad impression from Bolivia, and this constantly happens with all the Latin-American countries. I am mad because many people don’t know the truth and they have a bad impression of us….. You can only know it by searching for some information on the web or by asking some Bolivian people. But not everybody has a Bolivian friend nor spends time confirming the movie locations.

Please remember that in Latin-American countries there is not only poverty and peasants and bad things, we also have lots of beautiful sceneries and places.

Some pictures from Bolivia

Bolivia??? Where is it???

A lot of people ask me: “Where are you from?” and when I answer them “I am from Bolivia” most of the times the reaction is… Bolivia??? Where is it??? Or sometimes they just pretend to know where it is, but their weird looks tell me they don’t know.
Well, for those who don’t know anything about Bolivia, here you have some information:

The Republic of Bolivia is the heart of South America, since it is situated at the middle of this continent, therefore, we don’t have sea. It is bordered by
Brazil on the north and east, Paraguay and Argentina on the south, and Chile and Peru on the west. Our Independence Day is August 6th and the official language is Spanish but we have some dialects such us Aymara, Quecha and Guarani.

Bolivia is the 28th largest country in the world with 1,098,581 square kilometers.
It is divided in 9 cities: La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Oruro, Potosi, Sucre, Tarija, Beni and Pando, all of them with different beautiful landscapes and places to visit.

Some examples of the most popular places to visit in my country are:
-Titicaka Lake
-Salar de Uyuni
-Los Yungas
-Sajama Mountain
-Chapare
-Oruro’s Carnival
